Zechariah 3 - Modern English Version

Fourth Vision: Joshua the High Priest

¹ Then he showed me Joshua, the high priest, standing before the angel of the Lord, and the Adversary standing at his right hand to accuse him.

² And the Lord said to the Adversary, “The Lord rebuke you, Adversary! The Lord who has chosen Jerusalem rebukes you! Is this not a burning brand taken out of the fire?”

³ Now Joshua had on filthy garments and was standing before the angel.

⁴ And he said to those standing before him, “Take off his filthy garments.” Then he said, “Behold, I have removed from you your iniquity, and I will clothe you with rich robes.”

⁵ And I said, “Let them place a pure turban on his head.” So they put a pure turban on his head and garments on him. And the angel of the Lord was standing by.

⁶ And the angel of the Lord admonished Joshua, saying,

⁷ “Thus says the Lord of Hosts: If you walk in My ways and keep My charge, then you will judge My house and guard My courts, and I will give to you access to these who are standing here.

⁸ “Hear this, O Joshua the high priest, you and your friends sitting before you, for these men are a sign: Behold, I will bring My servant, the Branch.

⁹ The stone that I have set before Joshua, on that single stone are seven eyes. And I will engrave an inscription, says the Lord of Hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of this land in one day.

¹⁰ “On that day, says the Lord of Hosts, each of you will invite your companion to come and sit under the vine and under the fig tree.”
