Psalm 64 - Modern English Version

For the Music Director. A Psalm of David.

Hear my voice, O God, concerning my complaint; preserve my life from dread of the enemy.

Hide me from the secret schemes of the wicked, from the turmoil of the workers of iniquity,

who sharpen their tongues like a sword, and aim bitter words like arrows,

that they may shoot in secret at the blameless; suddenly they shoot at him and do not fear.

They encourage themselves in an evil matter; they talk of laying snares secretly; they say, “Who will see them?”

They devise injustice, saying “We have perfected a secret plot.” For the inward thought and the heart of man are deep.

But God will shoot an arrow at them; suddenly they will be wounded.

So He will bring ruin to them with their own tongues; all who see them will shake their heads.

All men will fear, and will declare the work of God; they will wisely consider His deeds.

The righteous will be glad in the Lord, and take refuge in Him. And all the upright in heart will exult.
