and that they should keep the duty of the Tent of Meeting, the duty of the holy place, and the duty of the sons of Aaron their brothers for the service of the house of YHWH.


“But as for us, YHWH is our God, and we have not forsaken him. We have priests serving YHWH, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites in their work.


They burn to YHWH every morning and every evening burnt offerings and sweet incense. They also set the show bread in order on the pure table, and care for the gold lamp stand with its lamps, to burn every evening. For we observe the instruction of YHWH our God, but y’all have forsaken him.


Therefore YHWH Almighty says concerning the prophets: “Surely, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink poisoned water; for from the prophets of Jerusalem ungodliness has gone out into all the land.”


The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule by their own authority; and my people love to have it so. What will y’all do at the end of it?


Moses said to Aaron and his sons, Eleazar and Ithamar, “Y’all must not let y’all’s hair hang loose or tear y’all’s clothes, so that y’all don’t die, and so that ʜᴇ will not be angry with the whole community. But y’all’s relatives, the whole house of Israel, may mourn the fire YHWH has kindled.


Instead appoint the Levites over the Tabernacle of the Testimony, and over all its furnishings, and over all that belongs to it. They are to carry the tabernacle and all its furnishings, take care of it, and encamp around it.


Thus the children of Israel did. According to all that YHWH commanded Moses, so they did.


Moses said to Aaron, “Take your censer, put fire from the altar in it, lay incense on it, carry it quickly to the congregation, and make atonement for them, because wrath has come out from YHWH! The plague has begun.”


Is it a small thing to y’all that the God of Israel has separated y’all from the congregation of Israel, to bring y’all near to ʜɪᴍꜱᴇʟꜰ, to do the service of YHWH’s tabernacle, and to stand before the congregation to minister to them.


Moses placed the staffs before YHWH in the Tent of the Testimony.


“Then the Tent of Meeting and the camp of the Levites will move out in the middle of the camps. They are to move out as they camp, each man in his place, by their standards.


The families of the Gershonites are to encamp behind the tabernacle westward.


The families of the sons of Kohath were to camp on the south side of the tabernacle.

Moses, Aaron, and his sons, who keep the requirements of the sanctuary for the duty of the children of Israel, camped before the tabernacle eastward, in front of the Tent of Meeting toward the sunrise. Any outsider who approaches was to be put to death.


From the children of Israel’s half, you are to take one drawn out of every fifty, of the persons, of the cattle, of the donkeys, and of the flocks, of all the livestock, and give them to the Levites, who perform the duty of YHWH’s tabernacle.”
