For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the giant fish, so the Son of Humanity will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.


From that time, Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised up.


They will kill him, and the third day he will be raised up.” They were deeply grieved.


As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, “Y’all must not tell anyone about this vision until the Son of Humanity has risen from the dead.”


and will hand him over to the ethnic groups to be mocked, flogged, and crucified. And on the third day, he will be raised up.”


and said, “Sir, we remember that while he was still alive that deceiver said: ‘After three days I will rise again.’


He said to them, “Y’all don’t be alarmed. You* are looking for Jesus, the Nazarene, who has been crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him!


He began to teach them that the Son of Humanity must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and that he must be killed, and after three days rise again.


Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. He bent down and saw only the strips of linen. Then he left, marveling at what had happened.


and when they didn’t find his body, they came back saying that they had seen a vision of angels, who said he was alive.


He said to them, “These are my words that I told y’all while I was still with y’all, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”


Therefore the Father loves me, because I lay down my life, that I may take it again.


Jesus answered them, “Y’all must destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”


But God raised him up, releasing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for him to be held by death.
