After they had assembled with the elders and strategized together, they gave a large amount of silver to the soldiers,

The chief priests therefore and the Pharisees gathered a council, and said, “What are we doing? For this man is performing many signs.

So they summoned the apostles and had them flogged. Then they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.
