“‘How can y’all say, “We are wise, and the law of YHWH is with us?” But look, the lying pen of the scribes has made it into a lie.
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you, that you may be no priest to me. Because you have forgotten your God’s law, I will also forget your children.
But y’all say, ‘Whoever tells their father or mother, “Whatever help I have for you is devoted to God,”
This invalidates the word of God by y’all’s tradition which y’all have handed down. And y’all do many things like this.”
Do we then nullify the law through faith? Absolutely not! Instead, we uphold the law.
If any believing woman has widows, she should continue helping them, and not burden the church, so that it may help other widows in need.
But anyone who doesn’t provide for their own, especially their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
