When he got out of the boat, immediately a man with an unclean spirit came out of the tombs to meet him.
For he had often been bound with shackles and chains, but he tore apart the chains and broke the shackles into pieces. No one had the strength to restrain him.
For Jesus had commanded the impure spirit to come out of the man. It has seized him many times, and he was chained hand and foot and kept under guard, but he would break the bonds, and the demon would drive him into deserted places.
