the blessing of him who was ready to perish came on me, and I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy.


Y’all must learn to do what is good. Y’all must meek justice, and relieve the oppressed. Y’all must defend the fatherless, and plead the case of the widow.”


They have grown fat. They shine; yes, they excel in deeds of wickedness. They don’t plead the cause, the cause of the fatherless, that they may prosper; and they don’t defend the rights of the needy.


Reach an agreement quickly with your adversary while you’re on the way with him, or he will deliver you to the judge, and the judge you to the officer, and you will be thrown into prison.


He said, “In a certain town, there was a judge who didn’t fear God and didn’t respect humans.


For a time, he refused. But after a while, he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or respect humans,


yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that in the end she won’t beat me down by her persistent coming.’”


‘Cursed is anyone who withholds justice from the foreigner, the fatherless, or the widow.’ All the people will say, ‘Amen.’
