Again she gave birth to Cain’s brother Abel. Abel was a keeper of sheep, and Cain was a cultivator of the ground.


You are to tell them, ‘This is the nation that has not listened to YHWH their God’s voice, nor received instruction. Truth has perished, and is cut off from their mouth.’


In the eighth month of the second year of Darius, the word of YHWH came to the prophet Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, saying,


so that upon y’all will come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zachariah son of Barachiah, whom y’all murdered between the sanctuary and the altar.


By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, and through this he was approved as righteous, because God approved his gifts. And through faith he still speaks, though he is dead.


to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks of something better than Abel’s.


unlike Cain, who was from the evil one and killed his brother. Why did he kill him? Because his deeds were evil, and his brother’s were righteous.
