Joash king of Judah took all the holy things that Jehoshaphat and Jehoram and Ahaziah, his fathers, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own holy things, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of the house of YHWH, and of the king’s house, and sent it to Hazael king of Syria, who then withdrew from Jerusalem.


Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the house of YHWH, and in the treasures of the king’s house, and sent it for a present to the king of Assyria.


He carried out from there all the treasures of the house of YHWH and the treasures of the king’s house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold which Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of YHWH, as YHWH had said.


It will happen in that day that the Lord will set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant that is left of his people from Assyria, from Egypt, from Pathros, from Cush, from Elam, from Shinar, from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.


“Therefore look, the days are coming,” says YHWH, “when they will no more say, ‘As YHWH lives, who brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt,’


Listen to fugitives and refugees from the land of Babylon, to declare in Zion the vengeance of YHWH our God, the vengeance of his temple.
