Then I looked at all the works that my hands had worked, and at the labor that I had labored to do; and I saw that everything was emptiness and a chasing after wind, and there was no profit under the sun.


I hated all my labor in which I labored under the sun, because I must leave it to the one who comes after me.


Who knows whether they will be wise or a fool? Yet they will have rule over all of my labor in which I have labored, and in which I have shown myself wise under the sun. This also is emptiness.


For what does someone get from all their labor and of the striving of their heart through which they labors under the sun?


What profit has he who works in that in which he labors?


Yes, better than them both is him who has not yet been, who has not seen the evil work that is done under the sun.


Then I returned and saw emptiness under the sun.


This also is a grievous evil: just as one enters, so they will go. And what profit does a person have who labors for the wind?


Look, here is what I have seen to be good and proper is for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy good in all their labor under the sun, all the days of their life which God has given them; for this is one’s portion.


For who knows what is good for man in life, all the days of his vain life which he spends like a shadow? For who can tell a man what will be after him under the sun?


Wisdom is as good as an inheritance. Yes, it is more excellent for those who see the sun.


I have also seen wisdom under the sun in this way, and it seemed great to me.


This is an evil in all that is done under the sun, that there is one event to all. Yes also, the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead.


Also their love, their hatred, and their envy has perished long ago; neither do they any longer have a portion forever in anything that is done under the sun.


Why do y’all spend money on what is not bread, and y’all’s labor for what doesn’t satisfy? Y’all must listen-listen to me, and eat what is good, and let y’all’s soul delight itself in richness.


Look! Isn’t it from YHWH Almighty that the peoples labor only to fuel the fire, and the nations weary themselves for nothing?


“What value does the idol have, that its maker has engraved it? It is a molten image, a teacher of lies. The one fashions its form trusts in idols that cannot speak.


For what does it benefit a human if they gain the whole world but forfeit their life? Or what can a human give in exchange for their soul?


Y’all shouldn’t work for food that perishes, but for the food that endures toward eternal life, which the Son of Humanity will give y’all. For God the Father has sealed him.”


that y’all submit to such people and to everyone who helps in the work and labors.
