Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but YHWH delivers him out of them all.


When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and flame will not scorch you.


Then they took Jeremiah and threw him into the cistern of Malchijah the king’s son, which was in the court of the guard. They let down Jeremiah with cords. In the cistern there was no water, only mud, and Jeremiah sank into the mud.


The prince of the eunuchs gave names to them: to Daniel he gave the name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abednego.


Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished and rose up in haste. He spoke and said to his counselors, “Didn’t we cast three men bound into the middle of the fire?” They answered the king, “Certainly, O king.”


For our momentary, lightweight oppression is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison.
