When the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, “Why does y’all’s teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
The Pharisees and scribes were complaining, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”
Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas into the Praetorium. It was early, and they themselves didn’t go into the Praetorium, so that they would not be defiled, but could eat the Passover.
So Peter invited them in and received them as guests. On the next day Peter got up and set out with them, and some of the siblings from Joppa accompanied him.
He said to them, “Y’all know that it is unlawful for a Jew to associate with or visit one of another ethnicity, but God has shown me that I shouldn’t call any human profane or unclean.
Therefore, send someone to Joppa and summon Simon, who is called Peter. He is staying in the house of Simon the tanner, by the seaside.’
So he gave orders that they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay for a few days.
But now, I am writing to y’all not to associate with anyone who claims to be sibling but is sexually immoral or covetous, or an idolater, or a slanderer, or a drunkard, or a swindler. Don’t even eat with such a person.
For before some people came from James, he used to eat with the ethnic groups. But when they came, he drew back and separated himself, fearing those of the circumcised.
If anyone comes to y’all and doesn’t bring this teaching, y’all must not receive them into your* house or welcome them,
