Zadok therefore and Abiathar carried the ark of God to Jerusalem again; and they stayed there.
Then Joab said, “I’m not going to wait like this with you.” He took three darts in his hand and thrust them through Absalom’s heart while he was still alive in the middle of the oak.
Ten young men who bore Joab’s armor surrounded and struck Absalom, and killed him.
Absalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in battle. Now why are y’all hesitating to restore the king?”
Suddenly, all the men of Israel came to the king, and said to the king, “Why have our brothers the men of Judah stolen you away, and brought the king and his household, over the Jordan, and all David’s men with him?”
The king put Benaiah the son of Jehoiada in his place over the army, and the king put Zadok the priest in the place of Abiathar.
Likewise, let y’all’s light shine before all humans, so that they might see your* excellent works and glorify y’all’s Father who is in heaven.
Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us. We plead on behalf of Christ: “Y’all be reconciled to God.”
This was not because we don’t have that right, but in order to offer ourselves an example for y’all to imitate us.
