So they searched for a beautiful young women throughout all the borders of Israel, and found Abishag the Shunammite, and brought her to the king.
Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, “I will be king.” So he prepared chariots, horsemen, and fifty men to run ahead of him.
He said, “Please ask to Solomon the king (for he will not refuse you) to give me Abishag the Shunammite as wife.”
She said, “Let Abishag the Shunammite be given to Adonijah your brother as wife.”
