and, ij. shall be made one flesh. So then are they now not twain, but one flesh,

and they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.

And the two shall become one flesh, so that they are no longer two, but one flesh. [Gen. 2:24.]

therefore that which God hath coupled, let not man separate.

Do ye not understand that he which coupleth himself with an harlot, is become one body? For two (saith he) shall be one flesh:

¶ So ought men to love their wives, as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife, loveth himself.
