Suppose ye that I am come to send peace on earth? I tell you, nay: but rather debate.

Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:

Do you suppose that I have come to give peace upon earth? No, I say to you, but rather division;

Think ye that I am come to give peace in the earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:

Do you think that I have come to bring peace to the earth? No, I tell you, I have come instead to bring division.

Do you think that I have come to give peace to the earth? No, I tell you, but division.

Think ye, that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, no; but separation.

¶ I am come to send fire on earth: and what is my desire but that it were al ready kindled?

For henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.
