For this people's heart is waxed gross. And their ears were dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed, lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their hearts, and should turn, that I might heal them.


¶ Verily, verily I say unto you: the time shall come, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the son of God. And they that hear, shall live.


I am come in my father's name, and ye receive me not. If another shall come in his own name, him will ye receive.


Many of his disciples, when they had heard this, said: this is an hard saying. Who can abide the hearing of it?


If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God: or whether I spake of myself.


They understood not that he spake of his father.


They answered him: We be Abraham's seed, and were never bond to any man: why sayest thou then, ye shall be made free?


¶ They answered and said unto him: Abraham is our father. Iesus said unto them. If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the deeds of Abraham.


Ye stiffnecked and of uncircumcised hearts and ears: ye have allways resisted the holy ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.


There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God,
