But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answering said to him, I adjure thee by the living God, to tell us, if thou art the Christ, the Son of God?


Then said Pilate to him, Hearest thou not, how many things they witness against thee?


And he answered him to never a word, so that the governour marvelled greatly.


And he questioned him in many words, but he answered him nothing.


And he desired Philip to come up, and sit with him. The portion of scripture which he was reading, was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter, and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so he opened not his mouth.
