to put him to death, But found none; yea, tho' many false witnesses came, yet found they none.

but found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses,

But they found none, though many witnesses came forward [to testify]. At last two men came forward

and they found it not, though many false witnesses came. But afterward came two,

They didn’t find anything they could use from the many false witnesses who were willing to come forward. But finally they found two

And they did not find any, even though many false witnesses had come forward. Then, at the very end, two false witnesses came forward,

And they found not, whereas many false witnesses had come in. And last of all there came two false witnesses:

that he who is on the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of us.

Having a good conscience, that whereas they speak against you as evil doers, they may be ashamed who falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
