In those days cometh John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judea.
And king Herod heard (for his name was spread abroad) and he said, John the Baptist is risen from the dead, and therefore divine powers exert themselves in him.
Others said, It is Elijah: and others said, It is a prophet, as one of the prophets.
And as he was praying apart, his Disciples were with him. And he asked them saying, whom say the people that I am?
And they asked him and said to him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou art not the Christ, nor Elijah, neither that prophet?
Many of the people therefore hearing this discourse, said, Certainly this is the prophet.
And there was a division among them. They say to the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, for that he hath opened thine eyes?
