Now to the one who works, the pay is not credited as a gift, but as what is due.

Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.

Now to a laborer, his wages are not counted as a favor or a gift, but as an obligation (something owed to him).

Workers’ salaries aren’t credited to them on the basis of an employer’s grace but rather on the basis of what they deserve.

But for he who works, wages are not accounted according to grace, but according to debt.

But if it is by grace, it is no longer by works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace.

They are set right as a gift of His grace, through the redemption that is in Messiah Yeshua.

Why? Because they pursued it not by faith, but as if it were from works. They stumbled over the stone of stumbling,
