but I said to the king, “May the king live forever! Why should my face not be sad, when the city where my ancestors are buried lies in ruins and its gates have been destroyed by fire?”


By great power He seizes my garment; He binds me like the collar of my tunic.


My flesh is clothed with maggots and clods of dirt; My skin is broken and festering.


Do not hide Your face from me in the day of my distress. Turn Your ear to me— in the day I call, answer me quickly.


All who hate me whisper together about me They imagine the worst about me:
