“When a ruler sins and unwittingly does one of the mitzvot of Adonai his God that are not to be done, then he is guilty.


The sons of Reuben and Gad had very large herds and flocks, and, they saw that the territory of Jazer and Gilead were ideal for livestock.


“Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Sebam, Nebo and Beon—


So now, divide this land as an inheritance for the nine tribes and the half-tribe of Manasseh.”


So Bnei-Yisrael gave by lot to the Levites these towns with their pastures, as Adonai had commanded through Moses.


Why did you stay in the sheepfolds— to hear the piping for the flocks? Among the clans of Reuben there was much searching of heart.
