“Earth, do not cover my blood, and let my cry find no resting place!


For on account of a prostitute one is reduced to a loaf of bread; a man’s wife preys on your precious life.


For her bloodshed is in her midst. She put it on the bare rock; she did not pour it upon the ground to cover it with dust.


Therefore I have said to Bnei-Yisrael: No person among you may eat blood, nor may any outsider dwelling among you eat blood.


“You are not to eat any blood, whether it is from a bird or an animal, in any of your dwellings.


But you are not to eat the blood—you are to pour it out on the ground like water.
