Meanwhile the people of Judah said, “The strength of the laborers is failing. There is so much rubble that we are unable to rebuild the wall.”
The sons of Ephraim were archers armed with bows, yet they turned back in the day of battle.
An evil one is ensnared by the sin of lips, but the righteous one escapes trouble.
The elders of Gilead said to Jephthah, “Let Adonai be witness between us if we don’t do as you say.”
So when I saw that you weren’t going to deliver, I put my life in my hand and crossed over against the children of Ammon, and Adonai gave them into my hand. So why have you come up to me today, to fight me?”
The Gileadites captured the fords of the Jordan opposite Ephraim. So when any of the fugitives of Ephraim said, “Let me cross over,” the men of Gilead would ask him, “Are you an Ephraimite?” If he said, “No,”
