and the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites,


Then David and all Israel went to Jerusalem—that is Jebus, where the Jebusite inhabitants of the land lived.


These were leaders of the clans listed in their genealogies. These lived in Jerusalem.


that is, those of their descendants that were left after them in the land, whom Bnei-Yisrael did not destroy—these Solomon conscripted for forced labor, as it is to this day.


They did not destroy the peoples, as Adonai had commanded them.


As for the Jebusites, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children of Judah could not drive them out. So the Jebusites continue to live among the children of Judah in Jerusalem to this day.


Also the house of Joseph marched against Bethel, and Adonai was with them.


Manasseh, however, did not drive out the inhabitants of Beth-shean and its villages, or Taanach and its villages, or the inhabitants of Dor and its villages, or the inhabitants of Ibleam and its villages, or the inhabitants of Megiddo and its villages. So the Canaanites resolved to dwell in that land.


Then the children of Judah attacked Jerusalem, captured it, struck it with the edge of the sword and set the city on fire.
