Now I am about to bring the flood—water upon the land—to destroy all flesh in which is the spirit of life from under the sky. Everything that is on the land will perish.


“Yet as a mountain falls away and crumbles and a rock is moved from its place,


where then is my hope? And my hope, who sees it?


He tears me down on every side until I am gone; He uproots my hope like a tree.


They were snatched away before their time, their foundations washed away by a river.


For what hope has the godless, when he is cut off, when God takes his soul?


My days fly faster than a weaver’s shuttle and come to an end without hope.


Then He said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say: ‘Our bones are dried up; our hope is lost; we are cut off—by ourselves.’
