Now during the days of the wheat harvest, Reuben went and found mandrakes in the field and he brought them to his mother Leah. Then Rachel said to Leah, “Please give me some of your son’s mandrakes.”

So when Jacob came from the field in the evening, Leah went out to meet him, and she said, “You must come to me. For I’ve actually hired you with my son’s mandrakes.” So he lay with her that very night.
Then he said, “Hear now, house of David! Is it a small thing for you to weary men? Will you also weary my God?
You have not only walked in their ways and gone after their abominations, but in a very short time, you have acted more corruptly than them in all your ways.”
Isn’t it enough that you brought us from a land flowing with milk and honey, only to kill us in the wilderness? And now you would lord it over us?
But to me it matters very little to be judged by you or by any human court. In fact, I do not even judge myself.
