Then Hagar gave birth to a son for Abram, and Abram named his son, whom Hagar bore, Ishmael.
So she said to Abraham, “Drive out this female slave and her son, for the son of this female slave will not be an heir with my son—with Isaac.”
But one—the son by the slave woman—was born naturally; while the other—the son by the free woman—was through the promise.
But what does the Scripture say? “Drive out the slave woman and her son, for the son of the slave woman shall not inherit with the son” of the free woman.
So then, brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave woman but of the free woman.
