Then David mustered the people who were with him and set commanders of thousands and captains of hundreds over them.
But you should seek out capable men out of all the people—men who fear God, men of truth, who hate bribery. Appoint them to be rulers over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens.
These were those selected from the community, princes of their ancestral tribes. They were heads of the thousands of Israel.
One man from each tribe, each head of his father’s household, is to assist you.
