You will take possession of the land, so you will settle in it, because I have given it to you to possess.


and you will take care to do all the statutes and ordinances that I am setting before you today.


“When you come to the land that Adonai your God is giving you, possess it and dwell in it, and you say, ‘I will set a king over me, like all the nations around me,’


“Hear, O Israel! You are about to cross over the Jordan today, to go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than yourself—cities great and fortified up to the heavens.


“Go through the camp and charge the people saying: ‘Prepare provisions, for within three days you will be crossing over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land which Adonai your God is giving you to possess it.’”


So Adonai gave to Israel the entire land that He had sworn to give to their fathers. They took possession and settled in it.
