He has sacrificed oxen, fattened cattle and sheep in abundance, and has invited all the king’s sons, Abiathar the kohen and Joab the commander of the army, but he has not invited Solomon your servant.


So he conferred with Joab son of Zeruiah and with Abiathar the kohen. Following Adonijah, they supported him.


then I will do the following to you in return. I will appoint terror over you, wasting disease and fever that will dim the eyes and cause the soul to pine away. You will sow your seed in vain, because your enemies will eat it.


Moreover, you will behold the distress of My dwelling, despite all that is good that has been done to Israel. So no one in your household will reach old age, forever.


Now this will be the sign to you that will come on your two sons—Hophni and Phinehas—on the same day both of them will die.
