Now the Ruach Adonai had departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from Adonai terrified him.


So Saul’s courtiers said to him, “Behold now, an evil spirit from God is tormenting you.


Let our lord now command your courtiers in your service to search for a man who is a skillful player on the harp. Then whenever the evil spirit from God comes on you, he will play with his instrument and you will feel better.”


Once again war broke out, and David marched out and fought the Philistines, and inflicted a great slaughter on them and they fled before him.


Then Saul heard that David and the men with him were located. Saul was in Gibeah, sitting under the tamarisk tree on the height, spear in his hand, and all his courtiers were attending him.
