But the men who had gone up with him said, “We cannot attack these people, because they are stronger than we.”


The people are great and tall, sons of the Anakim. You know them, and you yourselves have heard, “Who can stand before the sons of Anak?”


And they worshiped the dragon, because he had given authority to the beast. They also worshiped the beast, chanting, “Who is like the beast, and who can make war against him?”


But David said to Saul, “Your servant has been tending his father’s sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a lamb out of the flock,


Now when the Philistine looked and saw David, he disdained him, for he was just a ruddy boy with a handsome appearance.


So the king said, “Then, find out whose son this young man is.”
