But Jonathan had not heard when his father made the people swear the oath. So he put out the end of the staff that was in his hand and dipped it into the honeycomb, put his hand to his mouth—and his eyes brightened.
Then Saul said, “Cast the lots between me and my son Jonathan,” and Jonathan was taken.
