Solomon had twelve officers over all Israel, who provided food for the king and his household; each had to make provision for a month in the year.
Now this was the purpose of the forced labor that King Solomon had imposed to build Adonai’s House, his own house, the Millo, the wall of Jerusalem, Hazor, Megiddo and Gezer.
They tie up heavy loads, hard to carry, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves aren’t willing to lift a finger to move them.
For this is the love of God—that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.
