And they said, "Moses gave permission to write a bill of divorce and to dismiss her."

Who said: Moses permitted to write a bill of divorce, and to put her away.

Her husband Joseph, being righteous and not willing to shame her publicly, intended to send her away privately.

They said to him, “Why then did Moses command us to give her a certificate of divorce and send her away?”

He answered them, “What did Moses command you?”
