If I wash myself with snow water, And make my hands never so clean;
If I wash myself with snow and cleanse my hands with lye,
If I wash myself with snow, purify my hands with soap,
If I had been washed with snow-like waters, and my hands were shining like the cleanest thing,
If I be washed as it were with snow-waters, and my hands shall shine ever so clean:
If my step hath turned out of the way, And mine heart walked after mine eyes, And if any spot hath cleaved to mine hands:
That thou sayest, What advantage will it be unto thee? And, What profit shall I have, more than if I had sinned?
Yet wilt thou plunge me in the ditch, And mine own clothes shall abhor me.
I will wash mine hands in innocency; So will I compass thine altar, O LORD:
Hide thy face from my sins, And blot out all mine iniquities.
He that covereth his transgressions shall not prosper: But whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall obtain mercy.
For though thou wash thee with lye, and take thee much soap, yet thine iniquity is marked before me, saith the Lord GOD
O Jerusalem, wash thine heart from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved. How long shall thine evil thoughts lodge within thee?
For being ignorant of God's righteousness, and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
