With arrogance he went into the sanctuary. He took the gold altar, the lampstand for the light, and all its equipment.

And Antiochus turned back, after he struck Egypt, in the one hundred and forty-third year, and he ascended against Israel.

And after Antiochus had ravaged Egypt in the hundred and forty-third year, he returned and went up against Israel.

In his arrogance, he entered the Temple and took away the gold altar, the lampstand with all its equipment,

and entered presumptuously into the sanctuary, and took the golden altar, the lampstand for the light, and all its utensils.

He walked arrogantly right into the Jerusalem temple and took the gold altar, the lampstand, and everything that went with it.
