And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, which came forth of my bowels, seeketh my life: how much more may this Benjamite now do it? let him alone, and let him curse; for the LORD hath bidden him.


The LORD trieth the righteous: But the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.


Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me; Thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, And thy right hand shall save me.


Deliver me, O LORD, from the evil man; Preserve me from the violent man:


An evil speaker shall not be established in the earth: Evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him.


Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; Preserve me from the violent man: Who have purposed to thrust aside my steps.


For the enemy hath persecuted my soul; He hath smitten my life down to the ground: He hath made me to dwell in dark places, as those that have been long dead.


He rescueth me from mine enemies: Yea, thou liftest me up above them that rise up against me: Thou deliverest me from the violent man.


Deliver me not over unto the will of mine adversaries: For false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.


When evil-doers came upon me to eat up my flesh, Even mine adversaries and my foes, they stumbled and fell.


But mine enemies are lively, and are strong: And they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied.


They also that render evil for good Are adversaries unto me, because I follow the thing that is good.


Thy tongue deviseth very wickedness; Like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.


Mine enemies would swallow me up all the day long: For they be many that fight proudly against me.


My soul is among lions; I lie among them that are set on fire, Even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, And their tongue a sharp sword.


O God, the proud are risen up against me, And the congregation of violent men have sought after my soul, And have not set thee before them.


And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might put him to death; for they feared the people.


But they were the more urgent, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Judaea, and beginning from Galilee even unto this place.
