Are not Abanah and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage.


He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: But he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.


A fool's vexation is presently known: But a prudent man concealeth shame.


He that is slow to anger is of great understanding: But he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.


A wrathful man stirreth up contention: But he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.


He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; And he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.


The beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water: Therefore leave off contention, before there be quarrelling.


Say not thou, I will recompense evil: Wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.


It is an honour for a man to keep aloof from strife: But every fool will be quarrelling.


If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; And if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:


A fool uttereth all his anger: But a wise man keepeth it back and stilleth it.


and be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, even as God also in Christ forgave you.


Ye know this, my beloved brethren. But let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
