For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, And the covetous renounceth, yea, contemneth the LORD.


He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: But the righteous shall flourish as the green leaf.


The rich man's wealth is his strong city, And as an high wall in his own imagination.


Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? Or lest I be poor, and steal, And use profanely the name of my God.


O generation, see ye the word of the LORD. Have I been a wilderness unto Israel? or a land of thick darkness? wherefore say my people, We are broken loose; we will come no more unto thee?


I will get me unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they know the way of the LORD, and the judgement of their God. But these with one accord have broken the yoke, and burst the bands.


And the king was exceeding sorry; but for the sake of his oaths, and of them that sat at meat, he would not reject her.


But when he heard these things, he became exceeding sorrowful; for he was very rich.
