Judah is a lion's whelp; From the prey, my son, thou art gone up: He stooped down, he couched as a lion, And as a lioness; who shall rouse him up?


and, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and : I only am escaped alone to tell thee


His children shall seek the favour of the poor, And his hands shall give back his wealth.


And I brake the jaws of the unrighteous, And plucked the prey out of his teeth


Wilt thou hunt the prey for the lioness? Or satisfy the appetite of the young lions,


But he saveth from the sword of their mouth, Even the needy from the hand of the mighty.


His children are far from safety, And they are crushed in the gate, Neither is there any to deliver them.


The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: But they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.


Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.


Lest he tear my soul like a lion, Rending it in pieces, while there is none to deliver.


A lion is gone up from his thicket, and a destroyer of nations; he is on his way, he is gone forth from his place; to make thy land desolate, that thy cities be laid waste, without inhabitant.


They shall walk after the LORD, who shall roar like a lion: for he shall roar, and the children shall come trembling from the west.


Behold, the people riseth up as a lioness, And as a lion doth he lift himself up: He shall not lie down until he eat of the prey, And drink the blood of the slain.


He couched, he lay down as a lion, And as a lioness; who shall rouse him up? Blessed be every one that blesseth thee, And cursed be every one that curseth thee.


But the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me; that through me the message might be fully proclaimed, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
