And God spake unto Israel in the visions of the night, and said, Jacob, Jacob. And he said, Here am I.


And the LORD spake to Manasseh, and to his people: but they gave no heed.


Lo, all these things doth God work, Twice, yea thrice, with a man,


In thoughts from the visions of the night, When deep sleep falleth on men,


Once have I spoken, and I will not answer; Yea twice, but I will proceed no further


God hath spoken once, Twice have I heard this; That power belongeth unto God:


Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: For thou renderest to every man according to his work.


Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;


For that they hated knowledge, And did not choose the fear of the LORD:


And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.

And unto them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall in no wise understand; And seeing ye shall see, and shall in no wise perceive:


And he said unto them, O foolish men, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken!


And this is the judgement, that the light is come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were evil.
