Thou sayest, but they are but vain words, There is counsel and strength for the war. Now on whom dost thou trust, that thou hast rebelled against me?


Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and all his might, and how he made the pool, and the conduit, and brought water into the city, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?


For the king had taken counsel, and his princes, and all the congregation in Jerusalem, to keep the passover in the second month.


And when Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib was come, and that he was purposed to fight against Jerusalem,


This same Hezekiah also stopped the upper spring of the waters of Gihon, and brought them straight down on the west side of the city of David. And Hezekiah prospered in all his works.


So there was gathered much people together, and they stopped all the fountains, and the brook that flowed through the midst of the land, saying, Why should the kings of Assyria come and find much water?


Where there is no counsel, purposes are disappointed: But in the multitude of counsellors they are established.


Every purpose is established by counsel: And by wise guidance make thou war,


For by wise guidance thou shalt make thy war: And in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.


Who hath directed the spirit of the LORD, or being his counsellor hath taught him?


Draw thee water for the siege, strengthen thy fortresses: go into the clay, and tread the mortar, make strong the brickkiln.


For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?
