Then he led forth his people like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock.


Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou who leadest Joseph like a flock! Thou who art enthroned upon the cherubim, shine forth


And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night;


Then the angel of God who went before the host of Israel moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud moved from before them and stood behind them,


Thus says the Lord, who makes a way in the sea, a path in the mighty waters,


By a prophet the Lord brought Israel up from Egypt, and by a prophet he was preserved.


Thou didst trample the sea with thy horses, the surging of mighty waters.


Whether it was two days, or a month, or a longer time, that the cloud continued over the tabernacle, abiding there, the people of Israel remained in camp and did not set out; but when it was taken up they set out.
