But I am a worm, and no man; scorned by men, and despised by the people.


My friends and companions stand aloof from my plague, and my kinsmen stand afar off.


Because of their tongue he will bring them to ruin; all who see them will wag their heads.


Thou hast caused lover and friend to shun me; my companions are in darkness.


Thou hast caused my companions to shun me; thou hast made me a thing of horror to them. I am shut in so that I cannot escape;


Thus says the Lord, the Redeemer of Israel and his Holy One, to one deeply despised, abhorred by the nations, the servant of rulers: “Kings shall see and arise; princes, and they shall prostrate themselves; because of the Lord, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.”


For even your brothers and the house of your father, even they have dealt treacherously with you; they are in full cry after you; believe them not, though they speak fair words to you.”
