He who does violence to his father and chases away his mother is a son who causes shame and brings reproach.


He who robs his father or his mother and says, “That is no transgression,” is the companion of a man who destroys.


The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left to himself brings shame to his mother.


He who loves wisdom makes his father glad, but one who keeps company with harlots squanders his substance.


Not many days later, the younger son gathered all he had and took his journey into a far country, and there he squandered his property in loose living.


But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your living with harlots, you killed for him the fatted calf!’
