One man gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want.


Give a portion to seven, or even to eight, for you know not what evil may happen on earth.


When it was evening, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a lonely place, and the day is now over; send the crowds away to go into the villages and buy food for themselves.”


They said to him, “We have only five loaves here and two fish.”


And he answered them, “He who has two coats, let him share with him who has none; and he who has food, let him do likewise.”


Some thought that, because Judas had the money box, Jesus was telling him, “Buy what we need for the feast”; or, that he should give something to the poor.
